I often wonder how many believers understand the authority we carry. Maybe that’s better stated, I wonder how many believers actually believe that they have the same authority Jesus did. In Matthew 28:18 Jesus says all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to all when He died on the cross. That means He lives in us, and if He lives in us, then the same power that lived in Him, is inside of us. We need to walk in His Spirit and His power and authority; I believe too many believers don’t. In order to do this, we must first have faith to believe and then we can understand and equip ourselves to walk in the authority Jesus has given us.
Equipping ourselves will take sacrifice and dedication. We must be attentive to the voice of God; we must have a relationship with Him and we must trust Him in every aspect of our lives. We must walk in the Spirit. This is not always easy and sometimes we will fail, but that’s okay God knows we will. He knows our beginning from our end. The key is to get back up when we fail, ask for forgiveness and move forward.
Our Power And Authority In Christ
There are numerous examples of the authority Jesus Christ walked in found within the Bible. The bible states that the world itself could not contain the books of his works. (John 21:25) I’ve tried to generically sum them up in the list below.
- Every spiritual blessing in heavenly places – Eph 1:3
- We are seated with Christ – Eph 2:4-6
- Power and authority over all demons and diseases – Luke 9:1
- Authority to trample serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy –Luke 10:19
- Boldness to speak the word, heal the sick, cast out demons, speak in tongues.
